TIOMBÉ HAS FUN WITH GIRLS ON THE RUN

On April 26th Tiombé participated in the Girls on the Run program in Washington, D.C. Girls on the Run inspires girls in 3rd through 8th grade to be healthy and confident using fun activities that creatively integrate running. During her visit, Tiombé spoke to the girls about how being an athlete has impacted her life and then participated in their practice, which included showing them proper warm-up techniques, drills and participating in a shuttle race. Afterwards, she helped hand out shoes to the girls that were donated from a local running store and took pictures with them. The girls wrote in their journals about the rewarding experience and a few mentioned wanting to compete in track and field in the future. The Girls on the Run program has nearly 190 locations in the U.S. and Canada. The D.C. program is facilitated by The Homeless Children’s Playtime Project (HCPP), whose mission is to nurture healthy child development and reduce the effects of trauma among children living in temporary housing programs in D.C.
