TIOMBÉ RUNS 5K FUNDRAISER FOR HAITI

On Sunday Tiombé ran in the 2012 5K Run for Haiti organized by Haitian 800 meter national record holder Moise Joseph and Potomac River (PR) Running. The race was held at South Lakes High School in Reston, Virginia and was an ongoing effort to help victims of the 2010 earthquake that rocked the tiny Caribbean island. Proceeds from the race will go to the orphans of Shalom Village. There was great support from the local community with 500 people in the race. Although she is not a distance runner, Tiombé finished the race as the 27th woman overall. Other Olympians that showed up to run for the cause were Olympic silver medalist in the heptathlon Hyleas Fountain and Olympic bronze medalist in the 400m hurdles Bershawn Jackson. Tiombé plans to run for the fundraiser again in 2013 and hopes to improve upon her time and place finish.
